Historical Carroll County MD is located just northwest of Baltimore. The county was created in 1837 from parts of Baltimore and Frederick counties. It's named for Charles Carroll of Carrollton, who was the last surviving signer of the Declaration of Independence. Carroll County is bordered by Pennsylvania to the north, the Mason-Dixon Line to the south, the Patapsco River to the east, and Liberty Reservoir to the west. Mount Airy: Mount Airy is another CDP located in northwestern Carroll County. This historic town is home to about 9,000 residents and is well known for its charming Main Street area. Mount Airy hosts several annual events throughout the year, including an Arts & Wine Festival and an Oyster Roast & Wine Festival. There are also many hiking trails in Mount Airy for those who enjoy being outdoors.
